What is Ragging?
(As defined by the honorable supreme court of India)
Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written, or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes ore is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological or physical harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student
Punishment for Ragging
Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offences as established by the anti-ragging committee of the intuition, the possible punishments for those found guilty of ragging shall be any one or combination of the following:
- Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges
- Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits
- Forfeiting campus placement opportunities / recommendations
- Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process.
- Withholding of results
- Debarring from the representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival etc…,
- Suspension/expulsion from the hostel
- Cancellation of admission
- Fine of rupees 25000 /-

The Responsibilities of Committee Are As Follows
- To maintain and enforce strict disciplines within the college campus
- All the students should wear their ID card while they are in the campus and their respective class rooms.
- In case of any violation of dress code or disturbance in the class, the ID card will be confiscated from the student which will be handed over to the student on the same day with a warning and advice from the disciplinary committee members.
- In case of any misbehavior or violation of the college rules, the ID cards of the students will be kept with the disciplinary committee members till the enquiry is over.
- To enforce total prohibition of cell phone usage by the students within the college campus. Please note that cell phone is prohibited in the college campus and if a student is found carrying a cell phone, it will be taken away and handed over to the principal.
- To monitor the movement of the student in the college and prevent student loitering around in the corridors during the college working hours.
- To ensure that all the students attend classes without bunking and prevent them from leaving the college early. Please note that no student can leave the college early without prior permission from the concerned authorities.
- Smoking is strictly prohibited in the college campus and ensure that this is being strictly followed
- To ensure that students maintain complete silence in the library.
- To maintain proper discipline in the college canteen and student waiting room during the college working hours.
- If any damage is caused to the college property by any student/group of student the cost of the same said student/group of this will be followed by the disciplinary action.
- If any indiscipline is found by any of the students, warn them on the first instance take disciplinary action based on the rules and regulations of the committee, if the pattern of misconduct continues.

- The department level grievances are attended by the concerned class coordinators, counselors and department heads.
- The student co coordinators and staff co coordinators of grievance redressal cell act as facilitators to communicate and sort out the grievance at the department level.
- Unresolved grievance at the departmental level is referred to the grievance redressal cell of the institution.
As per the rules and regulations addressed by the AICTE, for student or other stake holders in a technical institution "Grievance Redressal Committee" of Dr.Kalam polytechnic college, Avanam, has been constituted with following Staff in different position to enquire the nature and extent of grievance.

Mechanism of the GRC
- The grievance redressal committee (GRC) shall consider only individual grievances of specific nature of students and staff.
- The GRC shall not consider any grievance of general applicability or of collective nature raised collectively by more than one employee/student.
- Post receipt of the complaint/application the committee will decide on the merit of the case regarding the scope of further discussion investigation and act promptly.
- The GRC may mediate between complainant and defendant against who the complaint has been made, it required.
- GRC shall consider redressing grievances within a reasonable time.
- The cell will give the report to the authority about the cases attended to and seek guidance from the higher authorities if required.
Function of Library Committee
- To guide the Librarian in formulating general library policies and regulations which govern the functions of the library?
- To provide proper documentation services and updating the Library collection.
- To work towards modernization and improvement of library and documentation services.
- To formulate policies and procedures for efficient use of library resources.
- To review library readership dept-wise.
- To adopt measures to enhance readership.
- To prepare budget and proposals for the development of the library.
- To recommend to the authorities the fees and other charges for the use of thelibrary.
- To seek feedback on Library functions from the readers.
- To submit the annual report on the functioning of the library.
- To take measures to increase the membership o the Library beyond the boundaries of the college.
